JURIS SOLIMAN is my associate in the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP). During the administration of President Cory Aquino, we used to call her "Madir" for her sincerity and honesty.
Her expertise in media relations did not go unnoticed. She was noted for her dedication, meticulous planning, good people-management skills, unquestionable credibility and reputation.
Meetings
In 1997, Juris and Sr. Gloria Ross, RVM, started the Mother Ignacia Healing Center in Bagombong, Caloocan City. She has been spending weekends with the sick. When she began missing PRSP meetings, I asked her why. "They need me more," she answered.
Public service
Recently, Juris was awarded the Natatanging Pilipino Award for 2005-Outstanding Government Official, by the Fil-Media Educational Achievers for her "dedication to public service, humanity and community development," according to Emilio San Gabriel, chairman of the awards committee. At the awards ceremony, Juris said: "Caring for the poor is not the sole responsibility of the government: All Filipinos should be public servants!"
